External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that days of unilateralism are over, bilateralism has its own limits and multilateralism is simply not working well enough. Resistance to reforming international organisations compels us to look for more practical and immediate solutions. That is the case for Quad. Speaking during the JG Crawford Oration 2021 on Monday, the minister also highlighted the need for the Asia-Pacific region to take a bigger political role, not just an economic one, in global affairs, like on the lines of Europe.
Jaishankar also spoke about China’s global role and said the full impact of the Dragon’s re-emergence will be felt more than those of major powers. He said the relationship remains high on the agenda for governments in New Delhi. We have entered a new phase of international relations and the full impact of China's re-emergence will be felt more than those of major powers,” the minister said. He noted that the US was struggling as a power in the current scenario due to various reasons.
