Government has said that the compound annual growth rate of digital transaction has gone up by fifty per cent. Electronics and Information Technology Ministry said, the number of digital transactions has increased from one thousand 85 crore rupees in 2016-17 to five thousand 554 crore in 2020-21. Recognizing the importance of a cashless economy, the government announced setting up of DigiDhan Mission with a target of two thousand 500 crore digital payment transactions during the Financial Year 2017-18 through Unified Payment Interface, Unstructured Supplementary Service Data, Aadhaar Pay, Immediate Payment Service and Debit cards. The Ministry said, as a result of coordinated efforts of all stakeholders, the number of digital transactions has increased manifolds as of now. In the last financial year, the mission was given a target of five thousand 500 crore digital payment transactions, which it has surpassed achieving five thousand 554 crore transactions.
-In Kerala, the first battery powered electric boat built for the Kochi Water Metro Project was handed over to the Kochi Metro Rail Limited at a function held at the Cochin Shipyard on Friday. The fully air-conditioned boat is among the 23 boats being built by the Cochin Shipyard for the 747-crore rupee Kochi Water Metro project. The boat has been christened Muziris after the prominent BC-era port, located about 25 kilometres away from Kochi city. The 50 seater boat can carry 100 passengers at a time. Kochi Water Metro system will have 78 ferries, linking 38 terminals spread over 76 route kilometres.
-Centre has released over 830 crore rupees to Odisha to expedite the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in the state. Jal Shakti Ministry said, Odisha has planned to become Har Ghar Jal State in 2024. Out of around 85 lakh rural households in the state, around 41 per cent households have tap water supply in their homes. The Ministry said, efforts are made to ensure tap water availability for drinking, cooking mid-day meal, handwashing and usage in toilets in all schools and anganwadi centres. As on date, more than 36 thousand schools and over 29 thousand Anganwadi Centres in Odisha have been provided with tap water supply.
-In Ladakh, Kargil has been popped as a new destination for winter tourism in the world in the last four years and has a great potential for patriotic tourism. This was stated by Executive Councillor of LAHDC, Kargil Engineer Punchok Tashi during his visit to Unlock Hunderman Border Museum along with Councillor Poyen Haji Mohammad Amin and Officers of Kargil Development Authority. Appreciating the efforts of Mohammad Ilyas Owner of the Unlock Hunderman Museum, Mr Tashi said, Hunderman Brok is one of the must-visit places for tourists in Kargil Ladakh and is an example for youths to learn responsibility and leadership to convert a place to an economical destination. Tashi said that Kargil has a great potential to attract domestic tourists by developing a circle with Patriotic Tourism which starts from Drass, with Zojjila War Memorial, Kargil War Memorial, Lahmochan Visit, promoting Kaksar as a War Heritage Village, visit of Border Village from Hunderman and on this LAHDC, Kargil is working tirelessly. Councilor Mohammad Amin said that a DPR of 24 Lakh rupees is ready for expansion of Kargil Hunderman Road which he hopes will be sanctioned soon.
-Maharashtra Education Minister Amit Deshmukh has taken serious note of the incident where 82 trainee doctors of Miraj Government Medical Collage were found infected by COVID-19 three days ago. Deshmukh has given instructions to the Dean of this collage to submit factual report on such negligence immediately.He also directed that strict adherence to the rules laid down in the provision of medical services should be observed and special care should be taken to ensure that the manpower working in the medical collage hospitals is not disrupted under any circumstances.
