Co-WIN has developed a new Application programming interface called ‘Know Your Customer’s or Client’s Vaccination Status - KYC-VS. This will enable entities to check an individual’s status of vaccination through CoWIN.To use this API, an individual needs to enter his or her mobile number and name. Thereafter, they will get an OTP which they have to enter. In return, Co-WIN will send a response to the verifying entity on the individual’s status of vaccination. If the response of Co-WIN - 0 - means Person is not vaccinated, 1 - Person is partially vaccinated and 2 - Person is fully vaccinated. This response will be digitally signed and can be shared instantly with the verifying entity.
-The fourth Conference of the Protectors of Emigrants was held on Friday, coinciding with the date of enactment of the Emigration Act, 1983. Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan delivered the keynote address and observed that the nation has worked together to deal with the challenges of the pandemic. He stated that this is the right time to prepare for the opportunities that are ahead of the nation in a world that is cautiously returning to normalcy. He stressed that Protectors of Emigrants should facilitate the emigration of blue collared workers while providing the best possible protection and welfare. Muraleedharan said Protectors of Emigrants have an important role to play in informing youth and workers about new destinations and opportunities.
-Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday visited his home constituency Majuli in the aftermath of the tragic boat accident in the river Brahmaputra on September 8.Talking to media persons, Sonowal said that being the public representative of the river island district, he will always stand with the people of Majuli. He informed that Central and State governments will work in tandem to dredge the river Brahmaputra so that Ro Pax vessels could travel between Majuli and Jorhat during winter. The Union Minister also took a boat inspection of the accident site and directed the officials to strictly adhere to the safety norms of passengers travelling in boats and ferries.Sonowal later visited the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital to meet the injured persons. Sonowal also met family members of Parinita Das at Guwahati, who lost her life in the boat accident.
-Maharashtra’s most favorite Ganeshotsav celebrations began from Friday with usual fervor amid Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions imposed by the state government. Various political leaders celebrated Ganeshotsav as usual. Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackray with his family offered prayers to Ganesh idol at his official residence Varsha. Thackray, on the occasion, said that, we, as a responsible citizen, should unitedly make efforts to create awareness among the people against Corona virus. Thackray also greeted people of Maharashtra for 10 days Ganesh festival. He said that, I have prayed the god to destroy all the evil from the earth.He regretted that, Corona has forced some restrictions upon us. But, we have to pay more importance to health of the people rather than celebrating festival. State environment minister Aditya Thackray was also present on the occasion.
-Kerala continues to report a surge in Covid cases as 25,010 new cases were confirmed on Friday. Thrissur district reported highest number of cases, ie 3226.The Test Positivity rate is at 16.53%. 177 deaths and 23,535 recoveries were also reported today .Over 2,37,000 people are currently undergoing Covid treatment in the state.Meanwhile Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed that the current Covid situation in the state is not worrisome. The state had given stiff resistance to the Second Covid wave so far. The Vaccination drive in the state was of great help in bringing the situation under control. The Higher Educational Institutions in the state will gradually reopen in a phased manner from 4th of next month.Classes for final year degree students will begin at the first phase. Classes will be held on alternate days with half of the total class strength. Vaccination drive will be held in colleges to ensure that all students receive atleast the first dose of vaccination.
