The domestic share market indices ended on a positive note on Thursday, outperforming weaker Asian markets.

India’s fiscal deficit for the first eight months of this fiscal year from April to November stood at Rs 8.47 lakh crore.

The new calendar year began on a positive note for Indian equities, with the Nifty advancing to near 23,750.

The gross GST collection rose 7.3 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1.77 lakh crore in December.

In a pre-Budget meeting, industry leaders emphasized the need for factor market reforms to drive growth. 

The Indian equity markets maintained their upward  trajectory in 2024, with Sensex rising 8.17% and Nifty advancing 8.8%.
