Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat expanded his Council of Ministers on Friday. Governor Baby Rani Maurya administered the oath of office to 11 ministers at Raj Bhavan. Banshidhar Bhagat, Bishan Singh Chufal, Ganesh Joshi, and Swami Yatishwaranand are the new faces of Rawat team, who took oath.However, Satpal Maharaj, Harak Singh Rawat, Yashpal Arya, Arvind Pandey, Subodh Uniyal, Rekha Arya, Dhan Singh Rawat were Ministers in the previous government also. MLA from Gadarpur Arvind Pandey took the oath in Sanskrit.After the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said that the developmental work done by the earlier Chief Minister will be taken forward for the benefit of every person in the state.
-The Indian Navy provided technical assistance to a stranded merchant vessel at sea. INS Talwar deployed in the Gulf of Oman received a broadcast call from the ship requesting for technical assistance.The cargo ship, on transit from Oman to Iraq, was drifting at sea since 9th of this month owing to failure of its propulsion, power generation machinery and navigational equipment.
-The Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru now has India’s first dedicated Express Cargo Terminal exclusively for export and import of international couriers. The Chief Commissioner of Customs in Bengaluru zone M Srinivas inaugurated the Terminal Friday. The two lakh square feet built to suit facility will be operated by Express Industry Council of India. It has a dedicated space for customs offices with direct access to both Landside and Airside wing of the airport. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Commissioner M Sirinivas said that the exclusive Terminal for express couriers at south India’s busiest Cargo Airport in Bengaluru will enable ease of doing business and reduce transaction time and cost for the shipper. The new facility will enable Bengaluru Airport to process 150,000 Metric Tonnes annually, taking the Airport’s overall annual cargo capacity to 720,000 MT, from the existing 570,000 MT.
-Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution on Friday launched Mera Ration Mobile App for the benefit of those ration card holders who move to new places in search of livelihood.Addressing media in New Delhi Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said that at present 32 States and Union Territories are covered under One Nation One Ration Card- ONORC and integration of remaining four States and UTs is expected to be completed in next few months. He also informed that at present, the system covers nearly 69 Crore National Food Security Act- NFSA beneficiaries in the country. Mr. Pandey informed that the ONORC has proved to be a tremendous value-added service to each NFSA beneficiary during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly migrants, which allowed them to avail the benefit of subsidised foodgrains.
-In Cricket, England beat India by eight wickets in the first T-20 match at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday night. Put into bat first, India scored 124 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs with the help of Shreyas Aiyyar's 67 runs off 48 balls. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya were the other two notable contributors to the Indian team, scoring 21 and 19 runs respectively.For England, Pacer Jofra Archer registered three wickets while Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Chris Jordan and Ben Stokes took a wicket each. In reply, England chased down the target of 125 in 15.3 overs riding on Jason Roy's 49, Jos Buttler's 28 and Jonny Bairstow's 26 not out. For India, Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal took a wicket each. England now leads five match series 1-0.
