Whether it's an urge to come to power or the desire of social service is anybody's guess. Whatever the case may be, but the reality is that this time many former IPS and IAS officers are running to get tickets from various parties to contest the Bihar Assembly elections. Recently, former DGP Gupteshwar Pandey, who has joined politics after getting VRS, appears to be keen to be a member of the house in Bihar . But Gupteshwar Pandey is not the only former IPS officer who is being speculated to contest elections. This time, former IPS officer and former DG Sunil Kumar, who was his batchmate, has also joined JDU. Now the discussion is that he too will contest elections this time.

Former IPS Ashok Kumar Gupta had contested from Patna Sahib Parliament constituency as an independent candidate when he failed to get a ticket from any party. He had to face defeat in Parliament election but, this time he has joined the RJD. In such a situation, the possibility of him contesting the assembly elections cannot be ruled out. Apart from this, retired DGP K S Dwivedi is also being discussed in the political circles to contest from Bhagalpur this time, while former IAS officer Raghav Sharan Pandey is being speculated to contest again from Bagaha assembly segment Yet another retired police officer Sridhar Mandal, has also joined the RJD and he can also contest elections.
