Australia’s Brisbane to host 2032 Summer Olympic Games

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has urged technical and professional educational institutions to offer courses in regional languages. In a Facebook post titled Engineering courses in mother language – A step in the right direction, Naidu lauded 14 engineering colleges across eight States for offering courses in regional languages. Naidu expressed his happiness over the decision of the All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE to permit B. Tech programmes in 11 native languages – Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Malayalam, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi and Odia. Referring to the benefits of learning in the mother tongue, the Vice President said, it enhances one’s grasping and comprehension levels.

-Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has said that Science and Technology is key to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat. Dr Singh was speaking after releasing a Review Committee Report on International Science and Technology Cooperation prepared under the leadership of Dr Anil Kakodkar, former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission of India. He said, today India has Science and Technology cooperation with 44 countries and this list will be expanded in coming days and months. The Minister asked the scientists of different Ministries and Departments to further enhance collaboration in the field of Research and Development and step up activities and collaboration with industries and corporate houses. He said, COVID taught us more about the value of coordination and collaboration not at the domestic level but also on a global scale.

-Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy has reviewed various initiatives of National Gallery of Modern Art, NGMA including virtual museum and audio-visual app in New Delhi.  Reddy along with Ministers of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal and Meenakshi Lekhi on Wednesday visited the NGMA in New Delhi. National Gallery of Modern Art which houses modernized and contemporary Indian art is one of the largest museums of modern art in the world. Speaking to media, Reddy said that the National Gallery of Modern Art is being renovated in the context of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. He explained that after the completion of the renovation and re-organisation works, the new look of the NGMA will be presented before the people. The Minister said, a large number of paintings and artworks are being collected from different parts of the country to be displayed at the Gallery. He said, this collection will remain available for the future generations of the country.

-The festival of sacrifice, Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated in a subdued manner due to Coronavirus pandemic across the country on Wednesday In most of the places, there were no mass congregation prayers in compliance with Covid restrictions. The worshippers offered Eid Namaz or prayers in local mosques in limited numbers in some places. In other parts, people offered prayers in their homes adhering to guidelines issued by the government. Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his only son in obedience of God’s command.     

-The International Olympic Committee announced that Australian city of Brisbane will host the 2032 Summer Olympic Games. Brisbane will also host the Paralympic Games.According to an estimate, the cost to prepare Brisbane for the event is 5 billion dollars.
