The West Bengal Police has lodged a case over the alleged attack on CM Mamata Banerjee after a complaint was filed by TMC leader Sheikh Sufian. Meanwhile, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has demanded a CBI probe into the incident while also calling it 'drama'. The case has been lodged by police in Purba Medinipur district under IPC sections 341 (wrongful confinement), 323 (assault), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt). In letters to the Election Commission, the Trinamool Congress alleged "a deep-rooted conspiracy to take the life of its chief" and the BJP, which has accused Mamata Banerjee of lying about the attack, called for video footage to establish facts. The Election Commission has asked the Bengal administration for a report by Friday. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee's all campaign-related programmes have been cancelled till March 14.
On the other hand,Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh has demanded a CBI probe into the incident and also called it a drama while saying that these antics won’t be of any help now. Speaking to reporters, Dilip Ghosh said that the people of Bengal have seen such drama earlier. "It needs to be probed what actually happened. How come a Z-plus protectee gets attacked is a matter that has to be looked into. The state should order a CBI probe to bring out the truth," he said. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, too, slammed Mamata and asked, “If there is a conspiracy, call CBI, NIA, CID or form an SIT. Why don't you do it? Making an excuse of conspiracy, you want to get public sympathy. Where were the police, CCTV? Take out CCTV footage and the truth will come out.”
