India on Saturday made a landmark achievement by administering more than ten crore Covid 19 vaccine doses. The Health Ministry said India is the fastest country to administer one hundred million Covid 19 vaccines in 85 days. The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on 16th of January this year.The United States of America has administered over 92 million doses in 85 days and China over 61 million doses in the same period.
-Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has once again appealed to farmers to end their agitation in view of rising cases of Covid 19. Talking to the media in New Delhi, Tomar said the government is always ready to continue the dialogue with farmers protesting near Delhi borders. He said, many farmers unions, economists and people from different walks of life are supporting the Agricultural Bills but some people are protesting against it. Tomar said the government had held 11 round of talks with protesting farmers. He said, government is ready to clear the doubts about the three new farm legislations.
-A two-day Scientific Convention on ‘Homoeopathy - Roadmap for Integrative Medicine’ was inaugurated at New Delhi on Saturday. Minister of state for Defence Shripad Yesso Naik was the chief guest on this occasion. The Convention was organized by the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, an autonomous apex research organization under the Ministry of AYUSH to celebrate the occasion of the World Homoeopathy Day. The World Homoeopathy Day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder of Homoeopathy, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. Addressing the gathering online, Naik emphasized that the contribution of Homeopathy in controlling epidemics is already well known. In his address, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harshvardhan said that Homoeopathy is playing an important role in fulfilling the health care requirement in the country with its integration with modern medicines. He said Ayush system of medicines were used in Covid-19 in an integrative manner in designated Covid treatment centers which showed impressive results.
- In Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha along with Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju on Saturday inaugurated Khelo India Centre of Excellence, "Water Sports Academy" at Nehru Park in world-famous Dal Lake in Srinagar city. Speaking on the occasion, Kiren Rijiju assured full support of Union Sports Ministry in development of sports in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that for the promotion of football amongst the women folks, Women Football league will be conducted in the region. On the occasion, various water Sports activities, demonstrations showcasing water sports talent of J&K including kayaking, Surf Riding, Canoe Slalom, Dal lifestyle, Water skiing , Canoe Sprint Race, swimming, besides, cultural programmes were presented to mark the event.
-In Indonesia, on Saturday,a strong earthquake killed at least seven people and damaged buildings on country’s main island of Java and shook the tourist hotspot of Bali without prompting tsunami warnings. The US Geological Survey said the magnitude 6.0 quake struck today off the island’s southern coast. It was centred 45km south of Sumberpucung town of Malang District in East Java province, at a depth of 82km.National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Raditya Jati said seven people died, two are seriously injured and 10 others sustained minor injuries.The head of Indonesia’s earthquake and tsunami centre, Rahmat Triyono said in a statement the undersea earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.Authorities were still collecting information about the full scale of casualties and damage in the affected areas.
