AAP is an 'Aapda' for Delhi: PM Modi calls for its defeat in polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday slammed the AAP as an "aapda" for Delhi, saying this "aapda" has taken the national capital in its grip in the past 10 years. Addressing people after launching a slew of infra projects in the national capital, including in housing and education sectors, he hit out at the city government led by AAP and said the situation in the national capital would worsen if its reign continued. On the one hand, the Centre is making a lot of efforts; on the other, the Union Territory government stands for brazen lies, he said, accusing the AAP government of committing corruption in a host of sectors ranging from school education to fighting pollution and liquor trade. With the assembly elections set to be held in the city next month, the prime minister said Delhi had launched a war on this "aapda (disaster)" and decided to get rid of it. "This year will usher in a new politics of nation-building and people's welfare. Therefore, 'aapda' has to be removed and the BJP brought in," he said.

Taking a swipe at former Delhi chief minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, Modi said he could also have built a "sheesh mahal" for himself but his dream was to ensure homes for everyone in the country. "These people commit corruption and then glorify it," he said, accusing AAP of shamelessness and making false promises.
Earlier, Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects in Delhi. He inaugurated around 1700 newly constructed flats for the dwellers of JJ clusters and handed over keys to eligible beneficiaries in Ashok Vihar, in the national capital. Modi also interacted with beneficiaries of flats and inspected the newly allotted flats. The inauguration of newly constructed flats will mark the completion of the second successful In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project by the Delhi Development Authority. The project aims to provide the residents of the JJ clusters with a better and healthier living environment equipped with proper amenities and facilities.
Modi also inaugurated two urban redevelopment projects- the World Trade Centre at Nauroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar. Besides, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Central Board of Secondary Education’s Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka built at around 300 crore rupees. It includes offices, an auditorium, an advanced data center, comprehensive water management system among others. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of three new projects at Delhi University worth over 600 crore rupees. He laid the foundation of an academic block in the Eastern Campus at Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi and an academic block in the Western Campus at Dwarka. Modi also laid the foundation stone of Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura, Najafgarh.
