Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that so far ten thousand Farmer-Producer Organisations (FPOs) have been established in the country and the turnover of some FPOs have reached 100 crore rupees. While addressing the two-day FPO Samagam 2025 in New Delhi on Thursday, the Minister informed that one thousand one hundred FPOs have now become crorepatis. He said that 52 lakh farmers have been benefited and the government is setting a target to reach two crore farmers through the initiative. Chouhan said that the government is aiming to bring integrated farming in the agriculture sector to boost the economy and diversify agricultural production. He also said that the government will soon introduce a Seed Act to ensure farmers receive high-quality seeds. The Minister further noted the contribution of farmers in the country’s economy and said that 50 percent stake will be provided to empower women in the farming sector.

The conclave received participation of over 500 farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Implementing Agencies, and Cluster-Based Business Organizations from 24 states and 140 districts across the country.
