NDA announces Bihar seat-sharing deal: BJP, JDU to contest 101 each

The ruling NDA alliance has finalised a seat-sharing pact for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections, with both the BJP and the JD(U), contesting an equal number of seats.JDU National Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha said that the seat-sharing was finalised by NDA constituents in a cordial atmosphere. As per the pact, Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) or JDU and the BJP will contest 101 seats. Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) or LJP(RV) has been given 29 seats. Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Party (Secular) or HAM(S) will contest on six seats and the same number of seats will go to Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM). “Leaders and workers of all NDA parties welcome this with joy and are united to make Nitish Kumar the chief minister again with a massive majority,” Jha said on X.

Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan also posted the break-up on x.This is a major climbdown for the JDU led by CM Nitish Kumar, which contested 115 seats in the 2020 Bihar assembly election. The BJP has also come down from 110.
The opposition Mahagathbandhan or INDIA bloc of the RJD and Congress, plus some others, is yet to announce its sharing formula.Bihar will vote in two phases, on November 6 and 11, with the counting of votes set for the 14th.
