ABVP wins 3 DUSU posts, Independent wins VP seat, NSUI failed

The ABVP won three of the four central panel posts in the high-profile Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election, while independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen secured the vice-president’s post. The Congress-backed NSUI failed to win any of the four central panel positions, with the ABVP clinching the president, secretary and joint secretary posts. The NSUI, which won the vice president's post last year, could not win a single post.
ABVP's Yash Dabas won the President post with 24,576 votes, defeating NSUI's Vijay Shankar Meena, who secured 22,523 votes. Riya Chhawdi won the Secretary post with 21,650 votes, while Lakshya Raj Singh won the Joint Secretary post with 16,615 votes. Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen, a former NSUI member, won the Vice-President post with 30,615 votes. ABVP's Ishu Maurya finished second with 16,910 votes, while NSUI's Vir Chatrath secured 4,313 votes.
The results came after a closely fought contest between the major student organisations, with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and the AISA-SFI alliance contesting the four central posts. Independent and other candidates also remained in contention for key positions. The counting of votes began at 8 am on Saturday at the Multipurpose Hall of the University Sports Stadium in North Campus. The contest remained close through several rounds, particularly in the presidential race, where the lead changed hands during the counting process.
