The Delhi Police is facing acute shortage of Personnel. As per November 30 this year, a total of 9248 posts, from Constable to DCP, were vacant in the Delhi Police. The sanctioned strength of Delhi Police is 92,044. Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai gave this This information in the Rajya Sabha in response to a question asked by Trinamool Congress, MP, Prakash Baraik. He tabled a chart which shown the rank wise vacancies in Delhi Police. Maximum nearly 5,000 posts Constables are vacant followed by Head Constables(HCs)-3057.

MoS Rai stated that Vacancies are regularly notified to the recruiting agencies, and appointments are made after the completion of the recruitment process, which includes a written examination, physical test, and medical examination.
