President Ram Nath Kovind said that India has saved many lives by providing COVID vaccines to the people of the country. He said, COVID-19 pandemic has affected humanity and made a devastating impact on vulnerable populations. While addressing at the 73rd Human Rights Day function organized by the National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi today, the President said, COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet. He applauded the country's initiative for running the biggest vaccination drive. He congratulated Doctors, scientists, and corona warriors for their heroic efforts during the Coronavirus pandemic.Highlighting the importance of National Human Rights Day, Kovind said, equality is soul of human rights. He said, our rights are shared responsibility. He said, NHRC issued several advisories during the COVID-19 pandemic and worked with other stakeholders to strengthen the health preparedness.He praised doctors, scientists and all other ‘Corona Warriors’ for their heroic efforts to uphold people’s Right to Life and Right to Health.
Stressing on climate justice,. Kovind said, degradation of nature is irreversible and the world is witnessing harmful changes in the global climate. He said, saving mother nature is important as time is running out. He said India has taken several initiatives for the protection of nature which will go a long way. He said, Solar Alliance and various initiatives to promote green energy will help in protecting nature. Occasion of Human Rights Day presents us with an opportunity to reflect upon what it means to be a human being, and our role in enhancing the basic dignity of humankind. Our rights are our shared responsibility, said the President. Justice Arun Mishra, Chairperson, NHRC also addressed the function.
