Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress of belittling and insulting the sacrifices of the soldiers who died during the 2016 Pathankot attack. He said that the country was together in the response to the attack except for the Congress party. "They questioned the government, the people of Punjab and even our army. They belittled the sacrifices of the soldiers," he said. When Pakistan attacked Pathankot, the Congress raised questions over the competence of the Army. They disrespected those martyred in the attack.
Addressing an election rally at Pathankot on Wednesday, Modi said the Congress got three opportunities for getting Kartarpur back from Pakistan, but it could not make use of the opportunities. Modi further said the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are on the same page and playing noora wrestling and said their fight is a mere eyewash. He called AAP a "photocopy" of the Congress and said both of them are not happy with the Ayodhya temple or whenever the army does something. "Don't tolerate these people," he said. Modi said the government will revamp the border belt of Punjab in terms of security, development and infrastructure.Punjab is not safe in the hands of Congress," he said. PM Modi said farming, trade and industry will be made profitable in five years if the BJP-led alliance is voted to power in the state. Punjab will vote on February 20 (Sunday) and the results will be declared on March 10.
Later addressing an election meetinh at Sitapur in UP, PM Modi said that the BJP government have ended mafiaraj and goondaraj in the state. With the inspiration of Sant Ravidas ji, our government is running on the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas, Modi said.
