Sensex falls 114 pts, Nifty below 23,650 amid weak global cues

The domestic share market erased early gains to close lower on Tuesday as banking, metal and financial shares dragged markets down amid continued weakness in the rupee against the dollar.At close the Sensex fell 114.19 points or 0.15 percent to close at 75,200.85, while the Nifty declined 31.95 points or 0.14 percent to settle at 23,618.00 after swinging between gains and losses through the session.  
Infosys, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, TCS were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Kotak Mahindra Bank, Titan Company Ltd, Ultra Tech Cement Ltd, Bharti Airtel Ltd.On the sectoral front Nifty Realty rose 1.43 percent, while PSU Bank and Media indices gained around 1 percent each, outperforming the benchmark Nifty despite the weak close.The Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices gained 0.9-1.2 percent
Rupee Close:
On 19 May'26,the Indian rupee weakened further on Tuesday, ending 0.2% lower to close at 96.53 against the US dollar weighed down by mounting external pressures as the ​prolonged U.S.-Iran conflict drives a sustained rise in crude ⁠oil prices and pushes U.S. Treasury yields higher.
