Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said that India and the US will look forward to strengthening bilateral ties with greater vigour. Addressing the media jointly with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen at the start of the Ninth Indo-US Financial Partnership in New Delhi, Sitharaman said that bilateral talks will impart greater vigour to the long-standing relationship with the US. Sitharaman said, India deeply values its relationship with the United States as a trusted partner. We share a traditionally strong bilateral relationship underpinned with shared values, convergence of interests on wide ranging issues and vibrant people-to-people contact..The substantial and multi-faceted cooperation through the economic and Financial Partnership Forum remains a key cornerstone of the bilateral engagements, the finance minister added.

Earlier, speaking at the Microsoft India Development Center, Dr. Yellen said, India is among the fastest-growing major economies of the world and the US focus is on deepening shared economic interests including fuel trade. She said, the US relationship with India is strong and continues to deepen through trade, critical economic ties, and shared values. She said, a cornerstone of the US-India economic relationship is the investments being made by Indian-US companies in each other’s countries. She said, partnership in the technology sector is critical to the US economic relationship with India. She added that both countries are committed to growing their productive capacity together to increase economic and national security.
