Uttarakhand: Heavy snowfall brings normal life to standstill

In Uttarakhand,normal life has been badly affected due to heavy snowfall in hilly areas. Many connecting roads in Hilly areas have been disrupted following the snowfall in the state.Snowfall was reported at higher reaches in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Tehri Garhwal District of Garhwal region during the last 24 hours. Long traffic Jams were witnessed as most of the tourists from Dehradun, Saharanpur, and Delhi rushed to Dhanoulti and other parts that were covered with white mantle. Snowfall was also reported in Pithoragarh and some other parts of the Kumaun Division. Heavy snofall has also affected the power and water supply at some places. 
The Met Department predicts that  Cold days are likely to occur at isolated places in the hills of Uttarakhand. Light to moderate rain/snowfall is likely to occur at many places in districts of the Garhwal region and very light to light rain or snowfall is likely to occur at a few places in districts of the Kumaun region of Uttarakhand. Snowfall was likely to occur at places with height 2500m and above.
