Heavy rain disrupts life in UP, schools closed in several districts

In Uttar Pradesh,sin several districts have been closed on Saturday in view of heavy rainfall and weather warnings.Many districts, including state capital Lucknow, have been witnessing heavy rain due to cyclonic conditions over the last 24 hours. Normal life has been badly disrupted, and road traffic has also been affected due to heavy rain. Many rain-related accidents have also been reported from different parts of the state.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued directions to senior officials to ensure prompt relief and rescue operations amid heavy rainfall across the state.He also directed authorities to provide every possible assistance to affected families and ensure that compensation for losses caused by heavy rainfall and lightning strikes is assessed and disbursed within 24 hours.  Relief Commissioner of the state, Dr Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod, held a video conference with the District Magistrates of districts under red and orange alerts to review the weather situation and preparedness. He directed officials to remain active in the field, continuously monitor local conditions and ensure immediate action in any emergency situation.
In Lucknow, schools across all boards from Class 1 to Class 12 will remain closed on September 26 in view of the warning of heavy rainfall. The order was issued by the Basic Education Officer following instructions from the District Magistrate.In Prayagraj, all schools from pre-primary to Class 8 will remain closed on Saturday following a red alert issued by the Meteorological Department and incessant rainfall in the district. Similarly, schools up to Class 12 in Kanpur will remain closed on September 26 due to heavy rainfall.

According to the India Meteorological Department forecast, weather conditions are likely to remain affected in the state on Saturday and Sunday. In eastern Uttar Pradesh, a warning of very heavy rainfall has been issued, along with heavy rainfall, thunder and lightning, and strong winds. In western Uttar Pradesh as well, heavy rainfall, thunder and lightning are likely till September 27.
