The ill-fated Air India plane crashed into the hostel of the BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad. As per information five medical students died and many suffered Nearly 40 doctors have been wounded and at least one is in a critical situation. The pictures showed a part of the aircraft stuck inside the students' hostel of the BJ Medical College. The building is the intern doctors' hostel at BJ Medical College.

Air India said that the flight was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft, out of which, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national and seven Portuguese nationals. “We have also set up a dedicated passenger hotline number 1800 5691 444 to provide more information. Air India is giving its full cooperation to the authorities investigating this incident,” it added. The flight, carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members, departed from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:39 PM IST and lost contact with air traffic control less than a minute later. The rapid loss of altitude and the inability to climb higher suggest a catastrophic failure during the initial ascent, though the precise cause remains under investigation by Indian aviation authorities and a technical team from Boeing.
