Ukraine launches over 1,000 drones at Russia, Oil refinery hit, 16 killed

Ukraine launched more than 1,000 drones at Russia overnight, including hundreds targeting Moscow, in what officials on Sunday described as the "largest ever" attack on the Russian capital. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called it the largest-ever drone attack on the capital, reporting damage to an oil refinery and a residential building. Sobyanin said, two people were killed and 20 injured in the attack across wider Moscow region. Russia’s Ministry of Defence said, its forces shot down 1,100 Ukrainian drones across the country. Across the wider Moscow region, the attack killed two people and wounded 20, local Governor Andrei Vorobyov said. The dead were a 74-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, Kyiv had used a range of missiles and drones in the attack, including Ukraine’s domestically made Flamingo and Pelican missiles to hit oil and logistics facilities. Both Russia and Ukraine have continued to hit energy infrastructure targets in the past week, despite US President Donald Trump claiming on social media that the two sides had agreed not to do so. Meanwhile a mother and her two children were killed in an overnight Russian drone attack near Kyiv, Ukraine's emergency service said. Russian attacks kill at least 8, wound 30 across Ukraine, as a child injured in Sept. 19 strike dies in hospital. Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion more than four years ago, Ukraine has developed.
