Sreesanth suspended for three years by KCA

The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has suspended S Sreesanth, a controversial former India cricketer, for three years from all cricketing activities in the state. The KCA said his remarks in a television debate over Sanju Samson's omission from the Indian squad of the Champions Trophy and his subsequent reply to a KCA notice were derogatory and inappropriate. The decision was taken by the association at a general body meeting. The 42-year-old Sreesanth, who represented India in 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is besides being part of the two World Cup winning squads (2007 and 2011), made comments on a local television channel in Kerala about Samson's non-selection for the Champions Trophy which the association thought were not correct. A show cause was sent to him and based on his reply, the general body announced suspension.Sreesanth had alleged that Samson was sidelined by the KCA to play for the Kerala side last year and hence missed selection to the national team for the Champions Trophy.

Meanwhile,  S Sreesanth declined to comment on his three-year suspension by the Kerala Cricket Association, stating that he is not aware of the matter. In March 2023, Sreesanth announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
