In Wimbledon Tennis Tournament, Australian top seed Ashleigh Barty has won the Women’s singles title defeating eighth seed Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic. Barty won the first set 6-3 but Pliskova fought back to win the second set 7-6(4-7) to level the contest 1 set each. Barty made a strong come back and won the third set 6-3 to clinch the title. The 25-year-old Australian last won a Grand Slam in 2018 but has continued to dominate the tennis circuit in 2021. Both players failed to hold onto their serve in the first set but Barty was more consistently able to win on her first serve. Barty became the first Australian woman since Evonne Goolagong in 1980 to win the Wimbledon title.

In the Men’s singles, defending champion Novak Djokovic has set up the Summit clash with Italy’s Matteo Berrettini. The match will be held on Sunday. World Number One Djokovic defeated 10th seed Denis Shapovalov while Seventh seed Berrettini thrashed Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in semifinals.In Men’s Doubles, Croatian pair and first-seed Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić will play against Spanish-Argentine team of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in the finals tonight.
