Asian Games hockey: India men's team wins Gold

In Asian Games,the Indian contingent have added another gold to their tally, with the men's hockey team winning the high-stake final match against Japan.Harmanpreet SIngh's men hammered 2018 champions Japan 5-1 in the men's hockey final on Friday to win the Gold medal.It was also India's 4th Gold medal at the Asian Games in men's hockey for India after 1966, 1998, and 2014. India finished with a bronze in the Jakarta Asian Games 4 years ago.India also booked a place at next year's Paris Olympics, avoiding the longer route to the Games. Only the gold medal winners in men's and women's hockey at the Asian Games are assured of the Olympic berth and the Indian side made sure that they got the job done with a dominant show. India had 3 penalty corners on the trot in the 3rd quarter and Manpreet Singh's thunder strike came in the 3rd attempt, giving India a 2-0 lead. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a cash award of Rs 5 lakh each for players and support staff of the India Men's Hockey team for winning the gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games.India convincingly beat defending champions Japan 5-1 in the final.

The Indian recurve women's team in Archery clinched bronze after defeating Vietnam 6-2 in the bronze medal playoff match. Whereas the men’s team bagged silver against South Korea in the finals.The India's women’s team clinched bronze in sepaktakraw after losing against Thailand in the regu semifinal. 
In wrestling, Sonam bagged bronze in the women’s freestyle 62kg category against Long Jia of China by 7-5. Kiran Bishnoi secured bronze in women’s freestyle 76kg category against Ariunjargal Ganbat of Mongolia by 6-3.
In Badminton, H S Prannoy had to settle for a bronze. China's Li Shi Feng got the better of the Indian shuttler in the semifinal by 2-0. In men's cricket, India thrashed Bangladesh by 9 wickets in the semi-final and qualified for the final.
