Haryana CM cencels farmers' meet after chaos

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's visit to a village near Karnal on Sunday and his meeting with a gathering of farmers got cancelled after a group pf farmers protesting against the Centre's agri-sector laws ransacked the venue. The Chief Minister was scheduled to attend the gathering of farmers at the village and speak on the benefits of the Centre's three farm laws passed in September. Haryana Police  used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesting farmers.

According to media reports the protesters reportedly vandalised the stage at the venue of ‘kisan mahapanchayat’ programme at Kaimla village. Farmers damaged the stage and broke chairs, tables and flower pots at the venue. Anticipating trouble, arrangements were made for heavy security and a number of police personnel were deployed at the village ahead of the meeting.Farmers, mainly from Haryana and Punjab are demanding the Centre to repeal the three farm laws. They have been protesting against the agri laws for over 40 days now.
