BRICS Chief Justices’ Forum begins in Delhi

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Friday highlighted the importance of the role of the judiciary in constructing coordinated bilateral cooperation and enhancing bilateral ties during the BRICS Chief Justices' Forum. Speaking at the summit, he also proposed the building of a common platform for arbitration and mediation to tackle commercial disputes.
The Supreme Court on Friday held the BRICS Chief Justices' Forum.The forum has brought together Chief Justices, Presidents of Supreme Courts and senior judicial leaders from BRICS Member States and Partner Countries. As part of the Forum, Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant held a series of bilateral meetings with heads of judicial delegations from various countries including, Russia, China, the UAE, South Africa, Iran and Uzbekistan. Discussions were held for strengthening of judicial cooperation among countries, technology advancement integration for increasing efficiency of judiciary, enhancing people-to-people ties through expeditious judicial processes and best legal practices of different countries. 
The forum's core sessions will cover four major themes: 
-Mediation in international commercial disputes, cross-border enforcement of arbitral awards, artificial intelligence in the judiciary, and judicial leadership for sustainable development.
-The mediation in international commercial disputes session will explore its role as a strategic tool for resolving global commercial disputes in an increasingly interconnected economy
-The session on cross-border enforcement of arbitral awards will examine current challenges in cross-border enforcement and explore possibilities for greater procedural harmonisation across jurisdictions
-Heads of judicial delegations from BRICS and partner countries will address the forum, sharing perspectives on shared concerns facing judicial institutions globally
Judicial leaders representing Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, South Africa and the UAE are expected to participate, along with representatives from partner countries Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda and Uzbekistan
