Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday reviewed the initiatives of the Department of Fertilisers for making India Atmanirbhar in Fertilisers. Mandaviya said that with the commencement of the Ramagundam plant, 12.7 lakh Metric Tonnes per annum indigenous urea production in the country has been added. He said, this will help to realise the vision of the Prime Minister to make India self-reliant in urea production. The Project will not only improve the availability of fertilisers to farmers, but also give a boost to the economy in the region besides ensuring food security to the nation. The Minister also informed that Government is planning to liberalise Market Development Assistance Policy to promote the use of alternative fertilisers. He said, Market Development Assistance policy was earlier limited to city compost only. There were demands to expand this policy by incorporating organic waste like biogas, green manure, organic compost of rural areas, solid and liquid slurry. The Minister was apprised that the Matix Fertilisers Plant in Durgapur having a capacity of 12.7 lakh Metric Tonnes will commence soon.
-In West Bengal, eight BJP MLAs have tendered their resignations from the Chairmanship of Assembly Committees and Standing Committees of State Legislative Assembly today. After attending the meeting of the BJP Legislative Party in the Assembly house this afternoon, the MLAs went to meet the Governor at Raj Bhawan. Leader of the Opposition BJP’s Shubhendu Adhikari later told reporters that Mukul Roy had been made the Chairman of Public Accounts Committee, even though, he rejoined his erstwhile party Trinamool Congress. Despite returning to the TMC, Roy did not resign as an MLA. Adhikari said that they strongly oppose the politics done by the TMC over the chairmanship of the PAC and sought the Governor's intervention in the matter.
-National Thermal Power Corporation, NTPC will set up India’s single largest solar park at Rann of Kutch in Khavada, Gujarat. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said, NTPC will set up 4750 Mega Watt renewable energy park. As a part of its green energy portfolio augmentation, NTPC Limited, India’s largest energy integrated company aims to build 60 Giga Watt renewable energy capacity by 2032.Recently, NTPC has also commissioned India’s largest Floating Solar of 10 Mega Watt on the reservoir of Simhadri Thermal Power Plant, Andhra Pradesh.
-Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh reviewed the progress made in implementation of SVAMITVA Scheme and e-Panchayat Programmes. The Minister opined that measures may be taken towards strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions through convergence with other Ministries.With the upcoming 75th Independence Day Celebrations next year, the Minister said, Gram Sabha meetings may be institutionalised to chalking out the broad level agendas. During the review meeting, issues relating to Operation and Maintenance Expenses under Central Finance Commission were also discussed.
-The government has said that over 11 thousand 141 crore rupees has been paid to the farmers as Minimum Support Price, MSP for procurement of wheat in the current Rabi Marketing Season 2921- 22 in Uttar Pradesh. Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said that during this season a record 56.41 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Wheat was procured from 12.98 lakh farmers at MSP in Uttar Pradesh as compared to 35.77 Lakh Metric Tonnes Wheat procured from 6.64 lakh farmers in 2020-21. The Ministry added that current Rabi Marketing Season has concluded in most of wheat procuring States and upto 8th July, a quantity of 433.32 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Wheat has been procured which is all time high. It said, nearly 49.16 Lakh farmers have already been benefitted from the ongoing Rabi Marketing Season procurement operations with MSP value of 85 thousand 581 crore rupees.
