The identities of two trekkers or where they are from still have not been established.  Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar confirmed that the bodies of seven trekkers have been recovered, while two have been rescued and two others remain missing. These are from a group of 11 trekkers who had gone missing Harsil.Meanwhile, five more bodies of trekkers from another group of 11 trekkers, which went missing near Lamkhaga Pass, were also recovered, said the DGP. They had begun the trek from Harsil in Uttarkashi district on October 11 and were to reach Chitkul via Lamkhaga pass.

IAF in Uttarakhand, rescued a survivor and recovered five mortal remains from around 16,500 feet altitude near Lamkhaga Pass. The search operation was conducted using IAF's Advanced Light Helicopter despite unfavourable terrain and strong wind conditions.According to information, a group of 17 trekkers including tourists, porters and guides had lost their way on October18 at Limkhaga Pass at an altitude of 17,000feet due to heavy snowfall and inclement weather. IAF responded to the SOS call by civil authorities on Wednesday and two Advanced Light Helicopters reached Harsil. A search was undertaken with three National Disaster Response Force NDRF personnel onboard on Wednesday while operating at the maximum permissible altitude of Advanced Light Helicopter at an altitude of 19 thousand 500 feet in the afternoon hours.

On Thursday, an A L Helicopter again got airborne at first light with State Disaster Response Force SDRF personnel and was able to locate two rescue sites. It inducted the rescue team at an altitude of 15 thousand 700 feet where four mortal remains were found. The helicopter thereafter moved to another location and winched up a survivor from around 16 thousand 800 feet who was unable to move. The survivors were given first aid at Harsil and sent to Uttarkashi District Hospital. According to IAF, two more mortal remains have been located and are being recovered on foot by a joint patrol of Dogra Scouts, 4 Assam and the 2nd battalion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police ITBP to Nithal Thach.Search for the remaining two individuals is being  undertaken by the Advanced Light Helicopter crew.
