In Uttarakhand, at least sixteen people are dead due to the incessant rain, cloudburst and flooding in several parts of the state for a third straight day Tuesday,Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said a total of 34 people have lost their lives due to rain related incidents in the state and five are feared missing while many others are trapped under debris after cloudbursts and landslides.As per the initial information, the cloud burst in Ramgarh block, about 35 km from Nainital town, caused a flash-flood. It resulted in heavy damage in Ramgarh as well as Okhladanda bloc on Tuesday early morning. The Naini Lake overflowing after more than 500mm of rain in 24 hours, and inundating roads coffee shops and nearby areas in Nainital.
The rains have led to scenes of chaos and disaster across the hilly state. Nainital was cut off after all three access roads were blocked by landslides. Roads to Kaladhungi, Haldwani and Bhawali have also been closed by debris from landslides.More visuals from Nainital, shared by Congress leader BV Srinivas, showed Army personnel braving the currents and forming a human chain to rescue stranded shopkeepers.

A bridge over the Gola river was washed away due to heavy rain on Tuesday morning and brought the traffic completely to a standstill on the Haldwani-Sitarganj highway. Kathgodam-bound trains were also cancelled after the shunting line of the station there was washed away.Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on the situation in the state and assured him of all the possible help from the Centre.Other visuals, posted by NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) chief Satya Pradhan, show villages and towns almost washed away by the strength of the floods.
