Senior IAS officer Usha Sharma has taken over the charge of the chief secretary of Rajasthan on Monday..The 1985 batch officer is only the second woman to occupy the top-most bureaucratic position in the state. She succeeded Niranjan Arya, who retired from the service. Ms Sharma was the secretary of the Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry in New Delhi on deputation.She has been in Delhi on deputation since May 2012 during which she also served as the Additional Director General of Tourism, Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India, and Additional Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances. Usha Sharma’s husband BN Sharma is also holding a key post in the state. He was appointed as the Chairmen of Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission after his retirement.
Lieutenant General GAV Reddy has been appointed as the new head of the Defence Intelligence Agency. General Reddy would be succeeding Lt Gen KJS Dhillon. The Director-General of the Defence Intelligence Agency is the head of the organisation and is among the principal advisors on intelligence to the Minister of Defence and the Chief of Defence Staff. The post of the director general is held on a rotation basis between the three Armed services. The first Director-General of the DIA was Lt Gen Kamal Davar, former director-general of the Indian Army's Mechanised Forces. Lieutenant General Reddy was previously serving as the ninth Commandant of the prestigious Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gaya.
