Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of Tamulpur Medical College and Hospital and distributed cheque of 1 lakh rupees each to the next of the kin of 100 selected COVID-19 victims under the State Government's 'Prarthana Achoni' at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati on Sunday evening. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta and Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Promod Boro were present on this occasion.Speaking at the event of Assam Government's Healthcare and Welfare Schemes launch, Shah said that Central Government is committed to fullfil all the promises made at Bodo Accord within a very short period. The Tamulpur Medical College and Hospital is result of the Bodo Accord.The Union Minister said that Assam will be a hub for Cancer treatment and researcShah also inaugurated a new unit of Radio Therapy at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital at Guwahati.
-The tap water supply has reached to 66 per cent schools and 60 per cent anganwadi centres in villages across the country. Jal Shakti Ministry said, to ensure clean tap water supply to children in schools and anganwadi centres, a campaign was launched on October 2 last year. In less than ten months, provision of tap water has been made in Six lakh 85 thousand schools, six lakh 80 thousand anganwadi centres and two lakh 36 thousand Gram Panchayats and Community Healthcare Centres in villages across India. The provision of clean tap water supply have been made in all schools and anganwadi centres in nine states and one Union Territories. These States and UT are Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Due to unsafe water, poor sanitation and hygiene, children are susceptible to water-borne diseases like diarrhea, dysentery, cholera and typhoid.
-Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Union Minister Narayan Rane and Ramdas Athavale on Sunday visited flood affected Konkan Region in the state. The Chief Minister has assured that consolidated assistance will be provided to affected people. Union Minister Rane said that the benefits of various schemes of the central government will be provided to flood affected people. Heavy floods in Maharashtra have affected around 2 lakh 30 thousand peoples in Konkan and West Maharashtra. Till date a total of 149 people are killed, 50 are injured and more than 64 people are still missing. Traffic on various national and state highways connecting to kolhapur with Bengaluru, Belgaum, Sangli, Ratnagiri are still closed. Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced that State disaster response force will be strengthened and set up in every district.
-Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the accident caused by landslide in Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh.In a tweet, Modi said, all arrangements are being made for the treatment of those injured in the accident. An ex-gratia of Rs. two lakh from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund will be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in an accident in Kinnaur. Rs. 50 thousand will be given to the injured. In Himachal Pradesh, nine people were killed while three other injured when boulders fell on a tourist tempo traveller on the Sangla-Chitkul road in Kinnaur district on Sunday afternoon. The ill-fated tourist vehicle carrying 11 people was on its way from Chitkul to Sangla. The deceased include five male and four female and were from Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. The bailey bridge at Batseri also collapsed in the incident.
-More than 43 crore 31 lakh COVID vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive. COVID-19 recovery rate has reached 97.36 per cent with around 40 thousand patients recovering in the last 24 hours. Till Sunday, more than three crore five lakh people have recovered from COVID-19. India reported more than 39 thousand 742 new cases in last 24 hours.
