Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane made a whirlwind visit to Leh, on Wednesday. In his half day visit, General Naravane visited forward posts on Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh region.General Naravane visited forward areas in Eastern Ladakh region including Rechin La and undertook a first-hand assessment of the situation along the LAC.He was briefed by the GoC of Fire and Fury Corps Lieutenant General PGK Menon and other local commanders on the operational preparedness of the forces. Army Chief also visited Tara base and interacted with the troops deployed in forward areas in Chuchul sector, and exhorted all ranks to continue working with same zeal and enthusiasm.He appreciated their high morale and state of readiness. On the occasion, he also distributed sweets and cakes on the eve of Christmas. Earlier General MM Naravane being received by Lt Gen PGK Menon and senior officials of Fire and Fury Corps.
-Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in paying tribute to fifth Prime Minister of the country Chaudhary Charan Singh. Modi said, Charan Singh devoted his entire life for development of villages and farmers in the country. He said, during his tenure, Singh launched many farmer-friendly policies. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inspired by Chaudhary Charan Singh and will not let farmers get hurt. Singh said, former Prime Minister was a pioneer among the most respected farmer leaders of the country.He said, Chaudhary Saheb continued to voice the problems of farmers for a lifetime and worked for their welfare and the country will always remember his contribution. Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi and Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal led parliamentarians in paying floral tributes at the portrait of the former Prime Minister in the Central Hall of Parliament Houseon Wednesday. A booklet containing the profile of Chaudhary Charan Singh brought out by the Lok Sabha Secretariat was also presented to the dignitaries on this occasion.
-In Bihar task force will be constituted at block level in each district for free covid vaccination in the state.In- Charge of Primary Health Centres have been instructed in this regard.Health Minister Mangal Pandey said this step has been taken to enable vaccination in rural areas of the state. Pandey said vaccination will be given on lines of pulse polio vaccination. Besides health workers health officials will be also engaged in vaccination work.Meanwhile, 2,41,935 patients have so far recovered from the Covid-19 infection in the state.The number of active cases is continuously declining and currently stands at 4,730. In last 24 hours 577 patients have recovered, while 497 new COVID-19 cases were reported.The recovery rate has improved to 97.54 per cent in Bihar.
-The Tamil Nadu government has banned New Year revelries on beaches, hotels, clubs and resorts on the night of 31 December and 1 January, 2021, as part of efforts to prevent the spread of Covid 19.A Govt press release said that here will be no entry to the beaches on these days, and no midnight revelries would be allowed on beach roads, restaurants, hotels, clubs, resorts including beach resorts, and similar places on New years eve and the following day.Regular functioning of hotels, restaurants, clubs and resorts shall continue, the release added.
-Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said, during last year, Maharashtra has attracted investments of over Rs. 2 lakh crore under the Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0 programme.He was speaking at the third edition of Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0 in Mumbai. MOU’s worth Rs. 61 thousand crore generating over 2 lakh jobs were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Industry Minister Subhash Desai. While speaking in Magnetic Maharashta 2.0 CM said that this is the proud moment which gives him immense satisfaction that Maharashta has attracted Rs. 1.12 lakh crore in just six months during the Covid crisis. The investments were made in a diverse range of sectors that have been very significant in recent times such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, biotechnology, food processing and FMCG as well as steel & automobiles, engineering and oil & gas among others.
