Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that a strong and vibrant India can contribute to stabilization of the world economic order. Chairing the Virtual Global Investor Roundtable Thursday. Modi said, we will do whatever it takes to make India the engine of global growth resurgence. He said, India is the place, if investors want returns with reliability, demand with democracy, stability with sustainability and growth with a green approach.The Prime Minister said, the recent reforms in agriculture opened up new exciting possibilities to partner with the farmers of India. He said, with the help of technology and modern processing solutions, India will soon emerge as an agriculture export hub. Modi said, India offers you Democracy, Demography, Demand as well as Diversity. He said, such is the diversity that you get multiple markets within one market and these come with multiple pocket sizes and multiple preferences. He added that these come with multiple weathers and multiple levels of development.
-Minister for MSME Nitin Gadkari has emphasized upon the need to use bamboo resources in a more intense manner in the country. Inaugurating a virtual Bamboo Exhibition on Thursday at a Webinar, he said that bamboo has a variety of use in various fields like buildings and interiors, handicrafts, agarbatti making, garments, bio-fuel resource, etc. Gadkari asked various sectors to utilize various modes and methods to bring down logistics costs including choosing more cost-efficient transit mode like water, rail or road. The Minister said, using river transport would come very handy in transportation cost reduction for Bamboo and Bamboo products originating from North East. Gadkari also asked Ministry of DONER to formulate a comprehensive Bamboo Policy as most of the Bamboo is produced in North East.
-An MoU was signed on Thursday between the government of Bangladesh, Beximco Pharmaceutical Ltd and the Serum Institute of India (SII) for priority delivery of 3 crore COVID 19 vaccine doses. The process of development of the vaccine is in the final stages at University of Oxford and AstraZeneca. Health Minister of Bangladesh Zahid Maleque and High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami were present on the occasion along with other senior officials of the Health Ministry of Bangladesh and the two companies.Calling it a ‘landmark agreement’, Health Minister Zahid Maleque expressed the hope that people of Bangladesh will get relief from this. He said that initially 1.5 crore people will be vaccinated as each person will require two doses of the vaccine. High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami said that the vaccine from India was chosen not only because it was best priced but also because it is most suitable for the conditions for the distribution of the vaccine in Bangladesh.
-In Bihar, campaigning for the third and final phase of assembly elections closed on Thursday. In this phase 78 assembly constituencies spread over 15 districts of Seemanchal, Kosi, Tirhut and Mithilanchal will go to polls on Saturday. Polling for the bye-election on Valmiki Nagar Lok Sabha seat in West Champaran district will also be held in this phase. In this phase, BJP is contesting 35 seats and its partner Janta Dal (United) in 37 assembly constituencies. Other constituents Mukesh Sahni led Vikas Sheel Insan Party (VIP) has 05 candidates in fray while former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi led Hindustani Awam Morcha is contesting on one seat.In the opposition Grand alliance, RJD is contesting on 46 and Congress on 25 seats. CPI-ML the ally of RJD has fielded candidates on FIVE seats and CPI is contesting on one seat.Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has fielded 42 candidates and Upendra Kushwaha led Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) is contesting on 23 seats. The Bahujan Samaj Party which is contesting in partnership with FIVE political parties has fielded 19 candidates. In this phase over 2.35 crore voters will decide the political fate of 1204 candidates including 110 Female contestants.
-Union minister Harsh Vardhan on Thursday gave the Gandhian Young Technological Awards to students and researchers, and said innovations and scientific solutions are essential for transforming the lives of people.Fourteen awards and eleven appreciation awards were given under SITARE-GYTI Students Innovations for Advancement of Research Explorations - Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (SITARE-GYTI) while 16 appreciation awards were given under Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technological Innovations-Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (SRISTI-GYTI).The awardees were selected after a rigorous review process by eminent professors and scientists in their respective fields, a statement by the Ministry of Science and Technology said.More than Rs 10 crores worth of other awards and investment have been mobilised by the SITARE-GYTI winners so far besides 89 publications, and 39 patents being under progress," he said.
