It is one week today. Still I have no information about Sonam Wangchuk’s health, the condition he is in nor the grounds of detention. pic.twitter.com/P4EPzO630A
Wangchuk, a well-known environmentalist and education reformist, was arrested on September 26 following protests in Ladakh over the demand for statehood. The agitation turned violent, leading to the deaths of four people. In her plea, Angmo questioned the invocation of the NSA against her husband, arguing that such preventive detention provisions were unwarranted in the circumstances. She maintained that his arrest undermined his constitutional rights and urged the Court to intervene. The Supreme Court, currently on vacation due to the Dussehra break, is expected to take up the matter after the bench resumes hearings.
