The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana is likely to be announced during April–May 2026, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C Sudharsan Reddy said on Thursday.Addressing a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties, Reddy said the schedule for the SIR in Telangana is expected to be notified during April–May, even as the exercise is currently underway in 12 other states.Given the limited time available once the revision is formally announced, the CEO said preparatory work has already begun in Telangana. He urged political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in advance to ensure smooth and effective implementation of the exercise.
Emphasising the importance of booth-level coordination, Reddy said BLAs should preferably be drawn from the local area of the respective polling stations and work in close coordination with Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He stressed that each polling station must have at least one appointed BLA to help ensure accuracy, transparency and timely resolution of issues during the revision of electoral rolls.“Strong booth-level participation is central to the success of the SIR,” the CEO said, adding that effective coordination would help minimise grievances and ensure that no eligible voter is excluded from the electoral rolls.
During the SIR, BLOs are expected to make three to four visits to each polling area. Enumeration forms will be distributed during the first visit, while subsequent visits will focus on households that were unavailable earlier, Reddy said. He clarified that electors who are not mapped during the preparatory phase would still be able to furnish their details during the SIR period. The CEO also reiterated that the appointment of BLAs for all polling stations should be completed at the earliest to facilitate seamless coordination once the revision process begins. The meeting was attended by Additional CEO Vasam Venkateshwar Reddy, Deputy CEO Hari Singh and other election officials.
