The domestic share market extended losses to the third session on Wednesday, as oil prices rebounded on fading hopes for a resolution between the US and Iran. At close, the Sensex was down 48.78 points or 0.07 percent at 72,480.29, and the Nifty was down 95.75 points or 0.42 percent at 22,620.45.
ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, InterGlobe Aviation, Wipro and Tech Mahindra were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Max Healthcare, Apollo Hospitals, SBI Life Insurance, Eternal and ONGC.On the sectoral front, Nifty Metal and Pharma indices declined more than 1% each, while the Consumer Durables index fell 0.8%. On the other hand, PSU Bank, Private Bank, Realty and Media indices gained 1-2%, according to agency reports.Broader indices outperformed the benchmark indices, with the Nifty Midcap index ending in the green, while the Nifty Smallcap index gained 0.3 percent.
Rupee Close:
On 30 Sept'26, the Indian rupee appreciated 13 paise to close at Rs 95.81 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar on Wednesday, as crude oil prices retreated from elevated levels, tracking an overnight decline in the U.S. Dollar index.Forex traders said easing U.S. Treasury yields from multi-decade highs also supported the rupee. However, weak domestic markets capped sharp gains for the domestic unit.
