In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena workers on Sunday vandalised a hotel in Mumbai’s Khar area where stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra’s show with ‘gaddar’ (traitor) jibe at Deputy CM Eknath Shinde was filmed, police said. The vandals ransacked Hotel Unicontinental in the Khar area where the show was shot and sought an FIR be registered against Kamra. According to a police official, the party workers reached the auditorium of the hotel after a video of Kamra’s jibe against Shinde went viral on social media.Calling it a "conspiracy to malign Shinde", the Shiv Sena has lodged a police complaint against Kamra, Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Sanjay Raut and Aditya Thackeray, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
During a recent show, Kunal Kamra took a swipe at Eknath Shinde for switching sides and aligning with the BJP. In a video shared by Kamra himself, he is heard singing a spoof song of Dil To Pagal Hai, referring to "the leader from Thane," making remarks about Shinde’s physical appearance and his equation with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. However, Kamra did not explicitly name Shinde in the clip.Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske warned Kamra that Sena workers would pursue him across the country, stating in a video message, “You will be forced to flee India.”
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray condemned the attack on the studio, calling it an act of cowardice. In a post on X, Thackeray wrote, “Mindhe’s (read Shinde) coward gang breaks the comedy show stage where comedian @kunalkamra88 put out a song on Eknath mindhe, which was 100 per cent true. Only an insecure coward would react to a song by someone.”
