Rajnath Singh, CM Yogi launch laser show at Lucknow War Memorial

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday unveiled an advanced laser, light and sound experience at the Smritika War Memorial, introducing a technology-driven tribute to India’s military legacy. The nearly 30-minute multimedia presentation, narrated in Hindi, traces the journey of the Indian Army, highlighting its operational milestones and contributions to nation-building. Designed using advanced projection, sound and lighting systems, the show will be held daily in the evening and is expected to be opened to the public soon.

The presentation revisits India’s major wars, including the 1947-48 conflict, Sino-Indian War, Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 and Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, along with key military operations such as Operation Meghdoot and Operation Vijay. It also showcases the role of the Central Command and pays tribute to Param Vir Chakra awardees from the Awadh region.
The show further highlights the Army’s ongoing modernisation in response to evolving security challenges and emphasises advancements in indigenous defence technologies, including those demonstrated during Operation Sindoor. It also underscores Uttar Pradesh’s growing role as a defence manufacturing hub under the state’s defence corridor initiative.
To enhance visitor experience, the memorial has been upgraded with modern infrastructure such as advanced projectors, sound systems, murals depicting next-generation military equipment, war trophies and a newly constructed amphitheatre. Three dedicated mural walls have also been developed to serve as both exhibits and dynamic visual canvases for the show. The project has been executed by the Central Command in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh government and the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.Established in 1994 under the aegis of the Central Command, the Smritika War Memorial stands as a tribute to the valour and sacrifice of India’s armed forces. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Central Command Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, along with senior Army and state government officials.
