In Rajasthan, a massive haul of 150 kg of explosives along with 200 cartridges and six bundles of safety fuse wire was seized from a car, police said on Wednesday and arrested two persons. Preliminary investigation has suggested that the explosives were meant for blasting at illegal mining sites in the Aravallis.Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source, destination, intended use and possible links of the seized explosive material, they said. Police seized ammonium nitrate, along with 200 cartridges and six bundles of safety fuse wire from a car in Tonk, and arrested two men, Surendra Patwa and Surendra Mochi. Such materials are often used in rock blasting, hinting at possible illegal mining in the Aravalli hills. Agencies are also investigating any possible terror angle.DSP Mrityunjay Mishra told the news agency that the DST acted on a tip-off to intercept a car in the Baroni police station area and recovered around 150 kg of ammonium nitrate concealed in sacks of urea fertiliser.

The Police said that the accused were allegedly transporting the explosive material from Bundi to Tonk for supply.
