Ministry of Science and Technology said that visually challenged students from all over the country will have access soon to Braille Maps designed and developed using Digital Embossing Technology, enabling them for ease of use, user-friendly, better feeling, and durable in terms of quality. It added, this technology is not only useful for high-speed production of the maps but can also produce Braille Maps that can be used by more people for years together. Ministry said, the technology has been introduced, designed, and implemented for the first time in India by National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organisation functioning as the Attached Office of the Department of Science and Technology.
-Punjab Police said, they have solved the case of the Hand Grenade attack at Pathankot Army Camp by busting a major terror module backed by the International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) with the arrest of its six operatives. Giving this information, Punjab Director General of Police VK Bhawra said, the SBS Nagar police have also recovered six hand-grenades, one pistol, one rifle along with live bullets and magazines from their possession. He said, all these arrested suspects are residents of Gurdaspur district. Giving details, the DGP said that during the preliminary interrogation, accused persons revealed that they were directly in touch with self-proclaimed Chief of ISYF, Lakhbir Singh Rode, and his close aides identified as Sukhmeetpal Singh alias Sukh Bhikhariwal and Sukhpreet alias Sukh for planning terrorist attacks. The DGP said, the entire cache of the recovered hand grenades, arms, and ammunition were pushed in from across the International border by Lakhbir Singh Rode, and arrested accused persons had been tasked for further attacking the pre-identified targets which were mainly police and defence establishments, and religious places. He said that the accused persons have also confessed to have lobbed hand grenades two times in Pathankot.
-Devotees at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple will wear Khadi handmade paper slippers from 14th of this month. The devotees visiting the temple in Varanasi and the temple workers will no longer need to enter the temple premises barefoot. Khadi and Village Industries Commission will begin the sale of Khadi handmade paper “Use & Throw” slippers. The slippers will be sold from the Khadi sales outlet located at the parking lot of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. These can be purchased at the price of 50 rupees per pair. The slippers will be sold by Kashi Hastkala Pratisthan, a registered Khadi Institution in Varanasi. The handmade paper slipper manufacturing unit will be inaugurated by the Mahant of Kashi Vishwanath Temple on Makar Sankranti that is on the 14th January.The development comes in wake of the jute slippers sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the workers of Kashi Vishwanath Temple after he learned that most of the people working at the temple performed their duty barefoot. It is forbidden to wear footwear made of leather or rubber on the temple premises.
-In Ladakh, after the recent heavy snowfall, Mechanical Division Kargil has launched, road clearance operation to clear all links roads and major roads of Kargil district. People appreciated the on-time clearance of Roads particularly Kargil to Parkachik Road, Sankoo Barsoo, and adjoining Roads and internal roads of Drass Area. Meanwhile, Municipal Committee Kargil also cleared Snow from roads in and around Kargil Town and MC Workers were seen soiling the roads at slippery areas making the way easy for vehicles. It is pertinent to mention that the Administration has started a 24X7 control room for any kind of emergency.
-The Rajasthan Government has decided to impose a weekend curfew and shut down of schools amid the rising number of Covid -19 cases in the State. The State Government has decided to impose fresh set of guidelines from this week. The new guidelines include the closer of schools and the imposition of weekend Curfew in the State. The Government imposed a weekend Curfew in the state from 11 p.m. on Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. This new guideline will come into effect from January 11 as per the official sources. State Government further announced the closure of schools and suspensions of all physical academic activities upto class 12 till January 13. During this period online classes will continue for all students. Further the Government has announced the revision of timings and capacity in releases places, weddings, restaurants, cinema halls and other public places where large gatherings are likely.
