Rajasthan Budget: Focus on jobs, water supply and expressways

Rajasthan deputy chief minister and state finance minister Diya Kumari presented the Budget for the financial year 2025-26 on Wednesday, highlighting employment generation, water supply projects, and infrastructure development. Key announcements included the construction of nine greenfield expressways and the recruitment of 1.25 lakh personnel in government departments and state undertakings. Diya Kumari announced 150 units of free electricity. Solar plates will be installed at the houses of beneficiaries of free electricity. She announced the removal of BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit Service) from Jaipur. She also announced 9 new greenfield expressways in the state and ring roads in 15 cities. The Minister also announced the recruitment of 1050 new technical positions. While delivering the Budget speech in the assembly, Kumari emphasised the state's rapid progress. "Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our government has proved the trust expressed by the public was right by setting new records of development in the state in the first year of its tenure itself," she stated.The finance minister reiterated the government's commitment to making Rajasthan a USD 350 billion economy by 2030, stating, "We have increased capital expenditure by more than 40 per cent in a short period and have constructed more than 9,600 km of new roads and upgraded more than 13,000 km of roads."

Later, talking to media, chief minister, Bhajanlal Sharma said, "Today's budget, which has been presented by Deputy CM and Finance Minister Diya Kumari, is in accordance with PM Modi's vision and the promises we made to the people of Rajasthan in the manifesto. I am happy to say that with the support of the state government and all my cabinet ministers, we have worked to fulfil the manifesto even beyond 50% in one year. We move forward with the ideas of Syama Prasad Mukherjee and Babasaheb Ambedkar. The budget that we presented in July, we have completed the land allotment work of more than 96%."
