Ministry of Railways has said that as part of its efforts to normalize passenger services and revert back in a phased manner to the pre-covid levels of service, the Railways Passenger Reservation System (PRS) will be shut down for six hours during the lean business hours of the night for next seven days. In a statement the Ministry said, this is to enable upgradation of system data and updating of new train numbers since a huge amount of old train numbers and current passenger booking data are to be upgraded in all Mail or Express trains. It said this is being planned in a series of carefully calibrated steps and implemented during night hours in order to minimize the impact on ticketing services.The activity will be performed starting from the intervening night of 14th and 15th November to the night of 20th and 21st November starting at 11.30 PM and ending at 5.30 AM. The Ministry said, during these 6 hours period no PRS Services ticket Reservation, current booking, cancellation, enquiry services, etc will be available. During the period railway personnel will ensure the advance charting for the trains to start during the affected timings. Except for the PRS services, all other inquiry services including 139 services will continue uninterrupted.Ministry of Railways has requested its customers to support the Ministry in the effort to normalize and upgrade the passenger services.
-The Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu has called for providing equal property rights to women and the importance of fully empowering them to make the country progress. Participating in the 20th-anniversary celebrations of Swarna Bharat Trust, Venkatachalam, Nellore, AP on Sunday, the Vice President pointed out that women constituted nearly 50 percent of the country's population and said they should be encouraged to participate in various fields at par with men. He reiterated the need to provide reservations to women in Parliament. Referring to Covid, 19 pandemics, the Vice President appealed to the people to get themselves vaccinated. Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
-The National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) in Bengaluru has developed an indigenous, medium class multi-copter Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or Drone that can transport essential supplies to remote locations during exigencies. This Octacopter with eight propellers has advanced flight instrumentation systems, on board embedded computers, and latest generation sensors for versatile applications like agricultural pesticide spraying, crop monitoring, mining survey, magnetic Geo survey mapping among others. The drone was successfully used yesterday in Bengaluru to deliver 50 vials of Covid 19 vaccines along with syringes in a special container from Chandapura Primary Health Centre to Haragadde Primary Health Centre. The Head of UAV section in NAL, Dr. P V Satyanarayana Murthy has elaborated further on the drone developed by them that can carry a payload of 15 kgs with a hovering endurance of 40 minutes and can fly at an operational altitude of 500 meters above the ground level.
-Maharashtra government has decided to give awards to all the police personnel involved in Naxal encounter in Gadhchiroli district. Guardian Minister of Eknath Shinde informed that the decision aims to raise the morale of the police force. Shinde also congratulated Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal and C60 Commandos. Shinde also said that the state government has taken concrete steps for the overall development of Gadchiroli and the district is moving away from the influence of Naxals towards the mainstream of development. The minister also clarified that Rs 10 crore has been allocated for the rehabilitation of surrendering Naxalites.
-In Union Territory Ladakh, Leh District Disaster Management Authority has ordered to close all the schools in the District from Monday till further orders as part of Covid management. The increasing trend of covid positivity has forced the authorities to close down the schools once again after a month long offline schooling for higher classes. Leh District, the capital of UT Ladakh has been witnessing a sharp rise in the number of Covid positive cases during this week. The active cases have reached up to 154 and 149 cases are out of these are detected in Leh. The number of cases on November1 in Leh was just 71.
