Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Governor Baby Rani Maurya administered the oath to Dhami in a ceremony held in Rajbhawan in Dehradun. BJP MLAs Satpal Maharaj, Harak Singh Rawat, Banshidhar Bhagat, Yashpal Arya, Bishan Singh Chufal, Subodh Uniyal, Arvind Pandey, Ganesh Joshi, Dhan Singh Rawat, Rekha Arya and Yatishwarananda also took oath as ministers in the new state cabinet.
Pushkar Singh Dhami is the youngest Chief Minister of the state. Born on 16 September 1975 at Tundi village in Pithoragarh district, two time MLA from Khatima of Udham Singh Nagar, Dhami started his political career as a member of ABVP. After the swearing ceremony in Raj Bhavan, the new Chief Minister Dhami said that he will work as per the people and party aspirations. Focusing on youth issues, he said that his government will be accessible to common people. Soon after the ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the new chief minister and his cabinet of ministers.

Assembly elections in Uttarakhand are likely to take place in early 2022. In the previous elections, in 2017, the BJP won 56 of the state's 70 assembly constituencies. BJP leader Trivendra Singh Rawat was then sworn in as the chief minister.
