Public participation, innovation key to achieving Viksit Bharat 2047: Birla

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday said that public participation, innovation, entrepreneurship and collective resolve will be crucial to realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047, emphasizing that economic growth and nation-building must progress together to ensure inclusive development.
Addressing the National Conclave of the Maheshwari community on the theme “Maheshwaris & the Making of Viksit Bharat 2047” in New Delhi, Birla said India's transformation into a developed nation requires active citizen engagement, social responsibility and equitable growth.He praised the Maheshwari community for its longstanding contribution to nation-building through ethical business practices, philanthropy and public service. According to Birla, the community has played a significant role in strengthening local economies, generating employment and promoting values such as honesty, integrity and social harmony.
The Lok Sabha Speaker noted that members of the community have established educational institutions, healthcare facilities and social welfare initiatives, making meaningful contributions to society across generations.Stressing that success should not be measured solely by wealth creation, Birla said entrepreneurship must also generate social value and contribute to positive societal change. He cited the achievements of Anand Rathi and Justice J.K. Maheshwari as examples of the community's tradition of excellence, leadership and service.


Highlighting the role of young people in shaping the country's future, Birla described educated, skilled and technology-driven youth as India's greatest strength in achieving the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. He encouraged them to embrace innovation, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies while striving to become job creators rather than job seekers.Birla also underscored India's progress over the past decade, attributing it to the country's resilience, confidence and collective determination. He said that balancing rights with duties, respecting democratic institutions and actively participating in public life are essential for sustaining long-term national development.
The Speaker further noted that legislative reforms enacted through Parliament have enhanced transparency and improved the ease of doing business, creating a more conducive environment for economic growth and investment.Expressing confidence in India's future, Birla said the principles of unity, service, enterprise and a “Nation First” approach would help the country achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. He called upon the Maheshwari community, particularly its youth, to continue contributing to national development through innovation, ethical leadership and social commitment.
