CWG: India’s Rishikanta Singh wins silver in men’s 60 kg weightlifting

At the ongoing Commonwealth Games, India’s Rishikanta Singh Chanambam on Sunday won the silver medal in the Men’s 60kg weightlifting event in Glasgow. Rishikanta lifted 121kg in the snatch, setting a new Commonwealth Games record before Malaysia’s Mohamad Aniq Kasdan equalled the mark. However, the Indian managed 143kg in the clean and jerk, finishing with a combined total of 264kg. Malaysia’s Mohamad Aniq Kasdan clinched the gold medal with a Commonwealth Games record total of 273kg, while Joshua Amunga Mboya of Kenya secured the bronze with an overall lift of 260kg. 

The silver medal is India’s second medal at this year’s Commonwealth Games and first in an able-bodied event.
