According to sources, Prashant Kishor to join the Congress because he will not be used as a consultant, rather he has been asked to join the party and work as a leader. In his presentation he reportedly suggested that the Congress should concentrate on 370 Lok Sabha seats and for the rest should forge alliances. Kishor further said, Congress should fight alone in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha, and it should form alliances in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Maharashtra. Sources said that Prashant Kishore also discussed strategies for upcoming Assembly polls in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.
The Congress has suffered a series of electoral defeats in recent years, including the 2014 and 2019 general elections to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Sonia Gandhi-led outfit currently has full governments in only two states--Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh--the same as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which was formed in 2012, and has governments in Delhi and Punjab
