Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Sri Krishna Mutt in Udupi on Friday, following a grand roadshow along the Bannanje–Kalsanka stretch where thousands gathered to greet him. The route came alive with cheers as people lined both sides of the road, eager to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. Modi waved at the crowd from the running board of his vehicle, acknowledging their greetings as many showered his cavalcade with flower petals. In return, he tossed flowers back, adding to the celebratory mood.BJP workers had made extensive arrangements, distributing caps, shawls, masks and T-shirts to the large crowd. Supporters carrying BJP and saffron flags added colour to the event. On reaching Adi Udupi, Modi was welcomed by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T.K., BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra and other leaders.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister landed at the Mangaluru International Airport, where he was received by Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, MLAs Rajesh Naik and Bhagirathi Murulya, Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao, Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V., Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy C.H. and other officials. From Mangaluru, he flew to Udupi in a helicopter.
PM Modi then proceeded to the Sri Krishna Matha, where he participated in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana programme. Hundreds of women had commenced reciting verses of the Bhagavad Gita since morning as part of the initiative. The Prime Minister joined them by reciting the 15th Adhyaya of the Gita. He also requested security personnel to collect paintings made by children attending the event.Addressing the gathering, Modi said he felt deeply honoured to be in the presence of revered sages at the historic Udupi shrine, calling the event a spiritually enriching moment during his Karnataka visit. He added, “Coming to Udupi is very special for me. Udupi has been the karmabhoomi of the Jana Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s model of good governance. In 1968, the people of Udupi elected V.S. Acharya of the Jana Sangh to the Udupi Municipal Corporation. With this, Udupi laid the foundation of a new governance model.”

Hundreds of women continued the Gita recitation as part of the ‘Laksha Kanta Gita Parayana’, marking a significant spiritual gathering that added to the sanctity of the Prime Minister’s visit.PM Modi said he felt deeply honoured to be in the presence of revered sages at the historic Udupi shrine, calling the event a spiritually enriching moment during his Karnataka visit.
