Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday strongly condemned an “attack” on Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai, expressing solidarity with the country’s senior-most judge and commending his composure following the incident inside the Supreme Court. In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Spoke to Chief Justice of India, Justice B.R. Gavai Ji. The attack on him earlier today in the Supreme Court premises has angered every Indian. There is no place for such reprehensible acts in our society. It is utterly condemnable.” He added, “I appreciated the calm displayed by Justice Gavai in the face of such a situation. It highlights his commitment to the values of justice and to strengthening the spirit of our Constitution.”
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has condemned the attempt to attack on Chief Justice of India Justice B R Gavai in the Supreme Court today saying it is shameful and abhorrent. In a social media post, Kharge said that it is an attack on the dignity of the Judiciary and the rule of law. The Congress, CPI, CPI(M), NCP-SP, Shiv Sena (UBT), DMK and other parties were unanimous in condemning the attack on the CJI.
