The Nation celebrates its 75th Independence Day on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag and addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort in New Delhi. Prior to flag hoisting he inspected the Guard of Honour. For the first time this year, as soon as the national flag was hoisted by the Prime Minister, two Mi 17 1V helicopters of the Indian Air Force showered flower petals. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Rajghat and offered floral tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
Addressing the Nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Modi extended his greeting to people and to all those who love India, love democracy all over the world on 75th Independence Day. He said in the Development journey of India, we don't have to limit our celebrations to Amrit Mahotsav but ensure that we meet our goals when we celebrate 100 years of India's Independence. Modi said, the goal is to develop a nation where it not only have world-class infrastructure but also move ahead with the mantra of Minimum government, maximum governance. He said, Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas is important in fulfilling all the dreams of the nation. The Prime Minister said, we have to connect 100 per cent of our citizens with schemes like Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Yojna, Pension Yojna, Awas Yojna, etc among others. Modi said, Nutrition (Poshan) is one of the key focus of the government. The government has also been working on preventive healthcare, and building health and wellness infrastructure.
He remembered the freedom fighters who gave their lives for this great nation and paid homage to them. The Prime Minister said, be it first Prime Minister Nehru, Sardar Patel who turned the country into a united nation or Babasaheb Ambedkar who showed India the way to the future, the country is remembering all of them, the country is indebted to all of them. Modi congratulated Tokyo 2020 Olympians who made the nation proud. He said, they have not only won our hearts but also inspired our young generation. Modi said, the period of Corona has posed a big challenge in front of the country as well as the entire humanity against which the people of the country fought this battle with patience. He saluted the scientists, doctors and frontline workers who have showcased their undeterred vigour in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. The Prime Minister said, it is a moment of pride for us that because of our scientists, we were able to develop two Make In India COVID Vaccines and carry out the world's Largest Vaccine Drive. He said, the practice of giving Digital Certificate after COVID Vaccination has caught the attention of the world. Modi said, after all our efforts we also lost many in this fight against COVID-19 and this unbearable pain will always remain with us.
